Kevin Mitchell's Early Career
After graduating from the University of Illinois, Kevin passed the CPA exam and joined a boutique investment bank in Chicago where he advised billion-dollar conglomerates, public company Boards, and lower middle-market founders on sell-side engagements. After several years as an M&A advisor, Kevin joined an institutional private equity firm with $1.5 billion under management where he led deal sourcing, due diligence and portfolio company governance. In 2003, Kevin relocated to San Diego, where he entered a vibrant startup community and became an operator. Across automotive, e-commerce, food & beverage, manufacturing, and distribution, Kevin progressed from business development to CFO roles, and ultimately acquired several businesses and led multiple teams as CEO.
After weathering economic storms, industry disruptions and personal adversity alike, Kevin's innate wiring as a business strategist and financial engineer emerged. He possess a rare set of experiences and expertise that enables him to add tremendous value supporting CEOs as a multi-disciplinary advisor of both rapidly growing and middle market companies.
Building an Entrepreneurial Business Without Limits
In 2020, Kevin founded Mitchell Capital to serve as his family office and corporate body for his deal-making pursuits. Since its founding, Mitchell has acquired multiple companies with approximately $150 million in total enterprise value. When it comes to his business, Kevin applies core values of trust, excellence and swift action to all that he does.
Personal Life
Currently 49 years old, Kevin resides in Carlsbad with his wife Laurel and two sons, Jake and Mason. When not serving in his role as CEO of Mitchell Capital, Kevin is either on a soccer or baseball field coaching youth teams, applying the same principles of hard work and inspiration that he does to his businesses. Kevin is also an avid golfer and enjoys running along the Southern California coast.
